Cross The design and material selection for the cross created for the Pope Leo House refers first and foremost to the iron and steel industries, which were the formative elements in the livelihood of this region. Although not present to the same extent as in earlier times, they have left an unmistakable mark on the people and the landscape.
The cross is made entirely of steel that is forged, welded, and the surface of the metal is heat-treated to a create shimmering blue. The central base plate of oxidised Corten-steel, is illuminated by a spotlight.
