Graphics

My graphic works from the 70’s to the mid 90’s were mainly dedicated to intaglio printing. During my studies of Fine Art Printmaking at the Düsseldorf Academy in the class of Prof. Rolf Sackenheim, I was fascinated by the multifaceted expressive possibilities of intaglio printing. Being keen to experiment, I familiarised myself with all kinds of techniques and possibilities of etching: from soft ground, line etching and aquatint to manual intervention in the copper plates such as dry-point and mezzotint. Lots of prints were created, mostly as colour etchings. I myself printed in my own print workshop, sometimes in cooperation with the Kätelhön print workshop in Wamel on Lake Möhne, where I acquired a lot of experience. There I became familiar with professional edition printing of artists’ graphics attaining to high standards. Many print editions were created.
A detailed documentation of all the prints is featured in my recently published catalogue of works “Stand der Dinge” 1972 -2000.
