„Tree of Partnership”

The „Tree of Partnership” was commissioned by a local business firm near Soest to celebrate 10 years of fruit-full and valued partnership with an associate firm in Poland.
Initially I was approached out of the blue with a fairly detailed project description of what was required. Naturally initial ideas and the possibility of being able to realize the project within the time and financial parameters described were considered.
After inquiring after further details it was revealed to me that  KI was used to explore the idea of a tree of partnership and that  KI suggested me as an Artist who could realize the sculpture. Outstanding!
My initial concept was very similar to that of the KI image. The KI  version did in fact lend itself to my final design but lacked the artistic touch. Rather than a flat 2D cut out I suggested a three-dimensional stylized tree using slotted shapes with hidden welding presented on a black stone base. The combination of materials, stainless steel and polished black stone was far more pleasing. The construction was neat and stable without distracting from the aesthetic presentation. The steel was given a pattern that suggested organic rhythms. Various text-elements in Polish and German were Laser engraved onto the stainless steel before the final construction. The tree elements were fitted together and welded on the underside of the steel base plate.  The metal tree was then glued onto the stone base. Size is ca.45 cm with Ø35 cm.
